Location: 1 Rochelle Street. Block: 5624, Lot:6. This property is, by far, the hardest to photograph or access in all of the survey. It is at the end of a private driveway that starts at 5 Rochelle Street. There is no public access through the water, so the best view is probably through Google Earth.
Status: Never landmarked or heard.
Description from the Bronx Survey: The house on the south side of Rochelle Street at Eastchester Bay is the most sophisticated of the Greek Revival structures remaining on the island.
Its dentil led box cornice and narrowly framed six-over-six pane windows show a refined treatment of detail, while the flat roof and Doric porch columns add to a bold and stately composition. The residence boasts a particularly handsome front door with an eared architrave and a transom divided by narrow muntins.
