In the fall of 2014, when the third phase of High Line Park finally opened, Hudson Yards appeared to be in its infancy. The project, roughly between 10th Avenue and the Hudson, and between 34th and 30th Streets in western Manhattan, has grown immensely in four years.
One of its most prominent features, Vessel, is almost finished. A sign of how much the area has changed is the building behind the original picture, 450 West 33rd Street. While it still stands, its somewhat industrial brown and orange colors have been replaced by a glass casing. It is not visible in the 2018 picture.
When phase two of the project is completed (scheduled by 2024) the area will have 16 new skyscrapers and the entire train yard will probably not be visible.
