Long Island City from 34th Street, before and after

One of the changes in this photo, which is not that apparent, is the placement of the Pepsi-Cola sign. In March of 2008, when I took the before photo, the sign was about 300 feet to the north of its current placement. In the spring of 2009, it was moved to its current position.

Long Island City by the water has grown exponentially in the ten years that span the photo, and the number of residential high-rises now appear to crowd the once-industrial area.

Even the area in Manhattan has changed, from a mere parking lot and an abandoned pier to the very busy East 34th Street/Midtown East Landing ferry station of the NYC Ferry.

As you can see, the Pepsi-Cola sign in Gantry Plaza state park is a recurring theme in my before and after pictures, since I already shot two versions of it here and here.
