Description from the Bronx Survey: The modest red brick Victcrian Gothic style structure with stone trim , the Elton Avenue Methodist Church at Elton Avenue and 158th Stret;c, was erected in 1S78-79 and designed by either John Rogers or H. S. Baker ( records are unclear). The central placement of the handsome Gothic- arched entrance emphasizes the symmetrical design of the church while four evenly spaced slender towerlettes divide the facade into three equal bays. In each of these bays a Gothic-arched stained glass window lights the interior while visually easing the solidity of the massive facade,
