The current siding and decoration appear much more subdued than in the survey picture.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Description from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emilio.nyc\/blog\/bronx-survey\/the-1978-bronx-survey\/\">Bronx Survey<\/a>:<\/strong> The house at 570 City Island Avenue displays a wide variety of architectural elements and no particular style. Its large box-like massing and the use of imbricated shingles as well as a Palladian window indicate that it was built at the turn of the century.<\/p>\n<p>The two and one-half story house is irregularly shaped with the front entrance placed off-center, topped by an angular bay which becomes a hipped-roof dormer at attic level. The wide variety of decorative elements includes cut-out and bats&#8217; wing wooden brackets.<\/p>\n<p>The emphasis is on texture and ornament, and the apparent lack of relation among the various architectural elements shows an almost haphazard use of pattern-book ornament.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Location: 570 City Island Avenue.
