House has very modern siding and at first glance you&#8217;d never suspect its actual age.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Description from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emilio.nyc\/blog\/bronx-survey\/the-1978-bronx-survey\/\">Bronx Survey<\/a>:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The small farmhouse at 2796 Pond Place (named for a pond once located at the corner of East 198th Street) may be one of the oldest remaining structures on the street and probably dates from the mid-nineteenth century. The northern, eastern and southern facades are reportedly original, with wider boards and hand wrought nails indicating an early date.<\/p>\n<p>The symmetrical plan with central chimney, plain window lintels, and returned cornice are also elements found in the mid-nineteenth century, while the enclosed entry is a much later addition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Location: 2796 Pond Place.
