Only 1371 stands.

The brief description from the survey implies 1371 isn’t a part of the group. Its row house style is definitely not late Victorian and very definitely not large. However, 1371 is the last residence standing on the west side of Franklin Avenue.

However, on the east side there are two good candidates for the houses described. 1318 is in a somewhat shabby state, while 1362 is a nice example of restrained Victorian architecture and is very well-preserved.

So while I was tempted to declare the whole set gone, these houses deserve consideration. 1318, downtrodden as it appears, fits the description perfectly. There is also an outside chance the survey made a mistake and intended to say the east side of Franklin Avenue, similar to the incorrect location of the Koehler & Campbell Piano Factory.

[Best_Wordpress_Gallery id=”1″ gal_title=”Franklin Avenue houses”]

Description from the Bronx Survey:

Late-nineteenth century. Although these large, late Victorian frame residences have seen better days, it is miraculous that they survive in an area heavily built up with apartment houses.
